Part of Me 3D

by Annette Szczepan

I loved it. I absolutely loved @KatyPerry‘s movie Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect going into the film. I mean, was it like Glee’s concert movie? Not that I’ve seen that, but I assume it’s just the Glee kids on tour.

Nonetheless, the film offered a good look into what it is like to be an artist doing a world tour. The crew was huge, and everyone worked two weeks in a row before they could get three days off. Add in jet lag and heavy lifting and I am sure that the job wasn’t the slightest bit easy for anyone.

I enjoyed that the film offered a look into Katy’s childhood. I had no idea that her parents were travelling ministers. I found it interesting that she wasn’t allowed to eat Lucky Charms because luck is of chance and chance is of the devil.

The film also showed the vulnerable side of Katy. On stage, Katy always had a smile plastered on her face. However, behind the scenes, Katy was tired and emotionally distressed. So many times Katy wanted to just sleep or cry all night but the show had to go on! She smiled for her meet and greets and put on a good show every time.

The film did not shy away from Katy’s divorce to @RustyRockets. I truly believe that Katy put everything she had into her relationship with Russell Brand. She flew to where ever he was on her days off. She didn’t even refer to them as “days off,” she referred to them as “relationship days.” Seeing Katy cry as her marriage fell apart really tugged at my heart strings. You could absolutely tell that Katy loved Russell and that it was killing her that even though she put everything she had into the marriage, she could not make it work.

Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D truly is an inspiring story of if you work hard enough, you can make your dreams come true. I’m a big advocate of following one’s dreams no matter how outrageous or far-fetched so this movie was right up my alley. And I guess that it helps that I am a huge Katy Perry fan (side story: I remember the summer when I Kiss A Girl came out and I had it on my iPod and would have it on repeat while on the elliptical – oh, yeah…I was once a member at a gym). But you don’t have to be a Katy Perry fan to enjoy the film. It is catered to everyone – even @WKZUK.

Watch the trailer below and don’t forget to buy your tickets to see the film.

Oh, and one last thing before you go. At the screening, they were giving away some Katy Perry swag so I thought I would grab something extra to share with you guys.
